Coffee Jelly Frappuccino At Starbucks

Well, we went to starbucks and my honey decided to try their newest flavor-coffee jelly frappuccino. When I first saw the "coming soon" sign I wondered how this would work ...then I saw them in action scooping up this "kohi" (coffee) jelly into the cup. Didn't look good to me but then again, I hate coffee jelly (super popular here). My honey said it was good but you can't really drink it as the jelly doesn't melt. I'm pretty sure you can't get this in the States!

I've never heard of coffee jelly but to me it sounds equally disgusting AND delicious!

that sounds disgusting! the only thing that we have that is similar is the bubble tea (also from japan) with the tapioca balls in the smoothie-type drink. THOSE are tasty, but this jelly nonsense? psh! ;)

I can't find this jelly on the menu at Starbucks here in Washington State, but I did find that Fannie Farmer included a recipe for coffee jelly when she published the Boston Cooking School Cookbook in 1918!
They treat it as a dessert - to be served with sugar and cream. Bleh.
I'll stick to my iced mochas just the same.

First off, I love your shop! It tempts me with all the cuteness... hehe.

I'm abnormal in that I hate Starbucks. I don't like coffee at all, actually. Bubble tea, the closest thing to jelly coffee we have here in the states, is repulsive to me. Little balls of tapioca swimming in the liquid! Yuck :P But I know a lot of people who LOVE bubble tea. Then again, I know a ton of people who love Starbucks ;)

Hey Suzanne...I know!! He says it is delicious!

Melissa-I've never had the bubble tea as that to me is gross!

Coffeegirl...you can find coffee jelly many places here and yes, they serve it with "cream" (the fake stuff) and sugar.I think it is gross too!

Caitlin-I will agree with you on the jelly thing and the bubble tea thing but I LOVE Starbucks. Have you ever tried the green tea frappuccino (called Matcha frappuccino)...they are tasty and not coffee!

Hey, they now have Coffee Jelly Frappuccino in Malaysia. But the jellies are much smaller. Weird.
